Plumbing the depths of my archives for my Studio Sale I come across forgotten treasure: monotypes I made on the backs of original Jacob Lawrence proofs, printed when he was still alive. The sheets are ripped roughly into squares - recycled lithographs from Stone Press Editions where I worked at the time.
The edition was one of his Biblical themes. The lucky printers each got to keep an entire edition, an incredibly generous gift from Mr. Lawrence. These were "scraps" and we thought little of using them.
