Jules Verne on mistakes and truth

"Science, my lad, is made up of mistakes, but they are mistakes which it is useful to make, because they lead little by little to the truth."
- Jules Verne

I love this. I love how it relates to art. Every day for me in the studio is a process of trying things out, ending somewhere to the side of some idea I'd had, trying again and seeing where it leads this time. It's a beautiful thing when following one's nose in this manner leads to some visible, tangible result that works, if only as part of a longer process.

The 'mad scientist' is the one with a preposterous imagination and a willingness to try things. The madder the scientist, the better.
